Cassidy Besse is a junior Music major and psychology and gender studies minor at Nebraska Wesleyan University, pursuing a career as a music therapist. She is currently studying voice with Dr. Jana Holzmeier, guitar with Professor Rich Jones, and piano with Dr. Larry Jones. In addition to her studies, Cassidy is a member of the Nebraska Wesleyan University Choir and has performed in multiple opera productions.

 

NWU has provided Cassidy with a myriad of opportunities to volunteer her time and talents to the department, the campus, and the Lincoln community. Within the music department, Cassidy has developed meaningful relationships with her faculty and peers as secretary of Mu Phi Epsilon and as a volunteer with the Honors Festival Team. On campus, Cassidy volunteers her time as a New Student Orientation Leader, International Pal, Huntington Pen Pal, a member of the Gender Advocacy Place Team, and holds a position as Song Chair and Courtesy Chair for Willard Sorority. In the community, Cassidy runs her own piano studio at Hamlow Elementary School in Waverly, NE. She also works as a head cantor and choir member at her First United Methodist Church, leads a youth praise team, and conducts music classes at a local daycare.

 

Cassidy's positive attitude and heart for giving has cultivated a sense of individual worth and drives her passion for becoming a music therapist.
