Distant Memory
Prelude in G Minor

Distant Memory
Refection
By composing “Distant Memory,” I was able to acquire a number of skills that will directly benefit my future career as a music therapist. I developed and refined skills in controlling practice period harmonies and voice leading. This thorough understanding of composing music will allow me to be able to compose with the knowledge necessary to create an effective piece of music. In addition, the music writing process taught me how to properly use the music program Finale. I was also able to manipulate music engraving tools within the system. With its basic design and useful tools, Finale has become a very popular music program that is used at many institutions. These skills and competencies will aid me when working with future patients who are interested in creating music as part of there therapeutic experience.
