Cassidy Lynn Besse is a senior Music major and psychology and gender studies minor at Nebraska Wesleyan University, pursuing a career as a music therapist. She is currently studying voice with Dr. Jana Holzmeier, guitar with Professor Richard Jones, and piano with Dr. Larry Jones. In addition to her studies, Cassidy is a member of the Nebraska Wesleyan University Choir, works as a hired soloist, and has performed in multiple NWU opera productions.

Nebraska Wesleyan University has provided Cassidy with a myriad of opportunities to volunteer her time and talents to the music department, the campus, and the Lincoln community. Within the music department, Cassidy has developed meaningful relationships with her faculty and peers as president of Mu Phi Epsilon, vice president of the Nebraska Wesleyan University Choir, and as a volunteer with the Honors Festival Team. On campus, Cassidy volunteers her time as a New Student Orientation Leader, International Pal, Huntington Pen Pal, and volunteer at the Gender Advocacy Place. In the community, Cassidy maintains her own private piano studio at Hamlow Elementary School, works as a teacher and music instructor at Trinity Infant and Childcare Center, and directs a children's and youth choir at First United Methodist Church. Through these leadership positions, Cassidy strives to learn from others while radiating a positive energy that allows them to feel empowered and inspired to do the same.

Cassidy recently returned from studying at Ulster University in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, which taught her the importance of asking questions, seeking understanding, promoting personal wellbeing, advocating for equality, and pursuing her dreams. Cassidy's empathetic nature and heart for giving has cultivated a sense of individual worth and drives her passion for becoming a music therapist.
